5 Tips to embark on a spiritual journey of self-discovery

Almost everyone feels worthless and insignificant in life at one time on another and when this happens it can be difficult and challenging to see our true worth and values. For almost anyone embarking on a spiritual journey is to rediscover who they are and the search for meaning and purpose in their lives.

Embarking on a spiritual journey is a very individual and personal quest and spiritual growth is about connecting with your inner soul and becoming aware of your inner consciousness or being. Doing so can help life become more harmonious, balanced, and happier.

As we evolve, our ‘world’ expands and are spiritual senses heightened. When transformation happens, we redefine ourselves from the limited physical beings that we are to awaken the infinite spiritual being inside of us that has always been.

If you are thinking to embark on a journey of self-discovery, you have already made the first step, because you are here, here are 5 tips to help you further:

1.       Create a sacred or reflective space or go to

Think about where you feel most safe and go there. Alternatively, you can create your own sacred or reflective space or travel to a retreat. Ensure that the place you go to is comfortable, tranquil, and secure for you to go to and relax your mind, body, spirit, and soul. Having a sacred space will shield you from stress and distractions, thus, does good for your spiritual wellbeing. Incorporate icons, posters, incense, flowers, cushions, and either meditation music or complete silence if you prefer.

2.       Meditate

There are many different variations of Meditation, but whichever one you choose, know that meditating can help you raise your consciousness and your energetic frequency. Meditating can also help you find peace and serenity and improve your mental health as well as help you manifest in self-discovery and spiritual growth.

3.       Start Journaling

Journaling prompts to help you find your life’s purpose and passions. Set yourself a journaling challenge to practice mindfulness. Try to maintain a diary of the day to day moments with awareness on your thoughts, feelings, and sensory sensations you have. You can also ask yourself life-related questions to reflect. It is also good to identify your strengths and weaknesses and be honest with your answers.

4.       Develop your intuition

Pay attention to your feelings, acknowledge them, and understand. Use your feelings as guidance on your spiritual journey. Any negative or ill feelings must be changed, and the positive or healthy feelings must be strengthened. Reading and listening to accredited spiritual sources and advisors can help with this, you could also research alternative states of consciousness and articles on intuition and spirituality.

5.       Practice Yoga

Yoga is not for everyone – but it can be a great exercise and a spiritual discipline to unite harmony between body and mind. Try and add a form of Yoga (because there are different types) to your daily life and routine as it helps you focus on strength, flexibility and breathing of which are all great tools to boost physical and mental wellbeing.

Understand that the spiritual journey you embark on is yours alone. Everyone’s spiritual journey is a personal quest, therefore unique. Despite this, many people will use the same spiritual tips and tools on their paths.
